Consider Decorating When Selling Your Home

When the time comes to sell a property, homeowners need to think about their home from the perspective of the new buyer and almost lose the emotional attachment to their home. Potential buyers will probably look at several houses, so make your home stands out. One easy way to do this is decorating to showcase your home and fixing those odd jobs that you have left.

Lounge and Living Areas

If you have sliding doors that link your kitchen to the dining area make sure these are working correctly on the rails. If the doors are awkward to move, this might put potential home owners off as this is additional work that is needed as soon as they move in. Sliding doors are great space savers in a home, so make sure the doors are clean and free from finger marks and dirt.

If you sliding door wardrobes in the bedroom, or anywhere else in the house, it might also be worth checking these aswell and make sure they are in working order and are clean.

Starting in the Kitchen

This is one of the main rooms potential home buyers look at first. Make sure the kitchen wall tiles are clean and if they need re-grouting get this done first. If you can add a lick of paint to the wall to get rid of scuffs and marks then this will also make the room look brighter. Check that all the lights work in the kitchen, especially if you are getting house viewings in the winter months.

Make sure the kitchen cupboards are all straight and the doors close correctly. If kitchen cupboard doors are wonky it can look off-putting.

If you have children or pets make sure the kitchen floors are clean and free from fur and dirt. It might also be an idea to remove pictures and put toys away to make sure the room looks neutral and not too cluttered.

If you have a classic kitchen worktop or even stylish granite worktops make sure they are being displayed to their full potential. Remove kitchen utensils and anything hiding the work surface. If there is a lot of work area space, show this to its full potential, as the amount of space is often a great selling point.
